It's better to use patchaid type products that are formulated for use in gel coat, you'll get a much better repair and be able to do it faster, plus most have the wax in them already. Epoxy must be protected from UV radiation but the painting will take care of that. You might like to warm the epoxy or even thin it with meths for the first layer to hopefully improve the attachment to the CSM glass.
